Gary Sauer-Thompson
Gary is a photographer, blogger and director of the online Encounters Gallery. He is based in Encounter Bay, Victor Harbor, on the southern Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia.
Gary has an M.Com in economics (Canterbury University, New Zealand) and a PhD in Philosophy (Flinders University of South Australia). After migrating to Australia he studied photography at the Photography Images College in South Melbourne whilst working on the Melbourne trams. He then had a photograhic studio in Bowden, Adelaide whilst studying for a B.A in visual arts and philosophy at Flinders. He has worked as an economist, a tramways conductor, an academic, and a political and policy advisor. He left full-time paid work in Canberra to become a independent photographer.
